Good Ideas

This is where we highlight stuff that you may not know about. All the items are those that we use as they save money, save time, or are generally interesting. If we hear that there are problems with using any item then we may put up a tutorial on how to use it. Just let us know.

In the middle of each month previous items from this page are moved to the Newsletter Archives, in the library, where they continue to be available to all subscribers to our newsletter.

Printer Ink

Ralph is always looking at things he considers best buys. This month he wants to repeat a recommendation he may have made previously. It concerns his old vexation, the price of printer toner/ink. YES, like you he is fed up with junk email regarding printer ink. He thinks you may like to know of a good deal, with which we have no commercial or other affiliation.

Ralph has used Canon printers for years. Because he got an excellent deal on a new Epson he switched to that brand when he needed a new printer.

For his new machine he has carried on using the ink supplier he has used for more than 7 years. For his new machine they have supplied ink cartridges for the same "3 for less than the price of 1" deal. And they work perfectly. Richard uses the same supplier.

Here it is: Ralph's and Richard's ink jet store. Again, we have no affiliation with this company.

Earth911

We mention this in the tutorial regarding the Last Things to do on your old PC, but repeat it here as we think it is something we should all be thinking about/doing something about.

Interesting fact: did you know that about 133,000 old PCs are disposed of every day? And far too many of them go to harm the environment.

So, if you are not giving your old PC to a family member, friend or an organization, then please make sure that it goes to a recycling company or organization. You may have to search a little on the Internet, but you will find one that will take it for free and recycle and dispose of it properly so that it does not harm the environment. Here is one site that offers good information: Earth911. You can see all about them from their links on the left of the window. If you enter your zip code (or postal code for Canada) on this page then you will see facilities in your area.
