Sending a Digital Photo via email

In a few simple steps you can send one, or more, photos so they download quickly and the entire photo can been seen on the recipient's screen.

badexample (50K) Image sent full size, may take a long time to download and you have to use the scroll bars to see the entire photo

goodexample (50K) Image sent reduced size, you can see the entire photo on the screen.

step1 (32K)

Open the directory containing your photos. If you don't see this screen then Select "Tools" from the menu bar, then "Folder Options", then select "Show common tasks in folders", and then "OK"

File and folder tasks contains three options. Now click on your photo.

step2 (38K) You'll see that in "File and Folder Tasks" extra options have appeared. Select "E-mail this file".

emailoptionsmin (15K)

This window appears, select "Make all my pictures smaller" and then "OK". Your original photo is not made smaller, a temporary copy is made and sent with the email.

emailstart (36K) Your email program is now automatically opened with your photo, or photos, attached. (The example shows the Thunderbird email program)

emailfinal (38K) Complete the email as usual, you can change the subject line, remove the "Your files are attached..." and replace it with your own message. Then send in the normal way.
